About OneNYC
OneNYC is a nonpartisan civic organization dedicated to strengthening democratic participation in New York City. We believe that informed voters, open debate, and honest policy research are the foundations of a healthy democracy — regardless of party affiliation.
Our Mission
New York City is the most complex, consequential, and dynamic city in the world. The decisions made in City Hall and in Congress shape the lives of over eight million people. Those decisions deserve serious scrutiny — and voters deserve every opportunity to hold candidates accountable.
OneNYC exists to create those opportunities. We host debates, publish independent research, and convene stakeholders from across the political spectrum to advance a simple idea: that good policy and good government are possible when citizens are informed and engaged.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We take no positions on candidates or elections. Our role is to shine a light — not to pick a winner.
What We Stand For
- Open Markets & OpportunityWe believe economic growth and broad-based opportunity are not in conflict — and that good policy can deliver both.
- Accountable GovernmentPublic officials should answer to voters. We create the forums and publish the research that make that possible.
- Civic ParticipationDemocracy works when people show up. We make it easier to engage, regardless of background or political affiliation.
- Evidence-Based PolicyGreat cities are built on data, not ideology. Our research prioritizes facts over talking points.
How We Work
Four commitments guide everything we do.
Nonpartisan by Design
OneNYC does not endorse candidates or align with any political party. Our commitment is to fair process, rigorous research, and equal representation of all perspectives.
Civic Debate & Dialogue
We host structured public debates and forums that give candidates the opportunity to speak directly to voters — and give voters the information they need to choose wisely.
Independent Research
Our policy research examines the issues facing New York City with rigor and intellectual honesty, drawing on data and expert analysis rather than partisan agendas.
Community Engagement
We bring together business leaders, community organizations, and everyday New Yorkers to have the conversations that shape the city's future — across every borough.
Our Latest Initiative
OneNYC is hosting and moderating the NY-07 Congressional District Debate on April 30. All three candidates in the race have confirmed. It's free, open to the public, and nonpartisan.
